Wasn’t the photo shoot of AF1 supposed to be of Barack by extension?

flyoverThe infamous picture of Air Force One flying low over NYC is not what you think it is. It dawned on me what it actually was supposed to be: a glorified publicity shoot of Barack himself, who is now Air Force One, The One. That plane now represents Barack himself metaphorically, and what a tragedy that we’ll never see the photo shoot the way it was envisioned:  Barack in the White House, Barack in Europe, Barack in Air Force One surveying the country. No wonder he was furious over the way things turned out. What a lost opportunity!

Oh yes – there is a report released Friday afternoon to avoid further embarrassment, that misdirects the public by focusing on who knew of the photo shoot and when. Not once does the report explore in the slightest WHY they would be wanting to do a photo shoot of AF1 in the first place. No no, that’s not important, right? But the report does confirm several times over that this was in fact a photo shoot that had been in the planning since early March, or before.

That’s when it dawned on me: this President is the most photographed man in America. Image really is everything not only to him, but to many of his supporters (I’m thinking, for example, Hollywood), and taking an AF1 lookalike up over NYC with an F-16 fighter jet for the purposes of a photo shoot should not surprise anyone. The White House should spare no expense to capture history unfolding, as we witness this monumental period together. We need more photographs! These could’ve been so great for the gallery.

This AF1 session was really supposed to be another photo shoot of Barack  by extension.obama-fonzie

This is a great time to be a photographer. Have you ever seen so many magazine covers featuring one person? There’s a good one of Barack’s backside. Oh, did you see the one of him wearing shades? There’s a great shot of his daughter looking out the limo window. But it’s not enough to see him everywhere. We must also hear him everyday. TOTUS has been very busy with these press conferences, and one network finally said enough’s enough. Can we just broadcast our regular programming now, please? We’d like to be permitted to make money again, evil as that may sound.

Actually, FOX choosing to broadcast Lie To Me instead of Obama’s press conference wasn’t all bad for liberals who will be happy to know that in this episode the FBI agent was the bad guy, and a police officer was shamed, although shot at by a fleeing (black) suspect within 1 foot of his head. The cop turned out to be a bad guy for shooting at the suspect as he began to take a cell phone out of his pocket while hiding from police. In addition the FBI agent was planting evidence. The only person who wasn’t really a bad guy was the fleeing drug dealer who shot at (and nearly killed) cops and tried to evade capture. So while the Prez was spouting his liberal agenda on one channel, liberal writers were weaving their bias into the story line on another channel. Either way, they got their message out.

So then, at the end of the day what do we have? A shamed director of the White House Military Office, Louis Caldera who fell on his sword saying “it has become a distraction to the important work you are doing as President.” Ann Coulter said it best when she said that the media wants to portray him as a “military guy” while in fact he is a Democrat. He worked for Clinton, and now for Obama. And from that lame reason he gave for resigning, I’d say she’s right on it. And we have a photo shoot gone bad. But I’m sure the intentions were good.

CNN reported that the flyover/photo session was aimed at updating file photos of Air Force One, and it was also a training mission, although the memorandum only uses the term training mission in the following context: “If it had been a typical or routine training mission, the Air Force would not
have notified the White House.” But this wasn’t a training mission; it was in fact a photo shoot.

From the memo:
On Thursday, April 9, the commander of the PAG, Colonel Scott Turner, sent an email to the
Deputy Director addressing a number of issues, including a plan to conduct “a photo shoot over
the Statute of Liberty on the 27th of this month.”

And later:
At 2:48 PM on April 24, Colonel Turner forwarded to the Deputy Director an email from an
FAA official, which contained a Flight Notification Advisory for the mission. The FAA email
stated that the notification was “considered FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY” and was “not intended
for release to the public or media.” In forwarding the email, Colonel Turner stated that “[w]e are
pressing forward with the photo shoot
.” The Deputy Director responded two minutes later and
thanked Colonel Turner. Neither the Director nor the Deputy Director heard anything further
about the flight until Monday, April 27.

Big Government plus plusWe now have a celebrity in the Oval Office, backed by many other celebs, and supported by a celeb-loving culture. And in order to capture car scenes that ring true, we have a movie crew in New York crashing into actual citizens by accident last week. In order to capture the AF1 in a fresh new way (it all has to be new now, doesn’t it?) we have 9/11 accidentally re-enacted. In order to put Obama in power in the first place we had the most over-the-top media tours of propaganda. Meanwhile, isn’t there something going on with our economy? Didn’t unemployment just hit 8.9%? Would be higher, but the government is hiring faster than they can spend the money (meaning Big Government is here to stay). I notice also they have hired creative writers, who have already learned to attribute the slight boost to the stock market to the stimulus:

“Because of this plan, cops are still on the beat and teachers are still in the classroom; shovels are breaking ground and cranes dot the sky; and new life has been breathed into private companies like Sharon Arnold’s,” the President said today. And creative writers write, and photographers are thoroughly employed, as long as they’re shooting The One, or the AF1.

Welcome to the “United States of Entertainment”. Question, and maybe I missed it but why was only one photo released? I’m thinking that this 300+k photo shoot should have spawned hundreds of photos and videos.

  3. Paul Zannucci says:

@NEPAConservative – I’m sure that after the explosion of indignation from terrified New Yorkers they just decided it was better not to release a bunch of their ridiculous footage.

Did you see that article somewhere where they just photoshopped AF1 into all sorts of different scenes? It was pretty funny, but I can’t remember where I saw it now.
