The Vile Malevolence Of The Political Left

edwardsredloon_esThere are few sights more disgusting than the American political left displaying its dark side – - as it did immediately following the murder of abortionist George Tiller on Sunday.  When I read some of the trash articles making accusations that conservatives in general and Bill O’Reilly in particular were responsible for Tiller’s murder, the words which came to mind were “vile malevolence.”

Admittedly, I don’t know all of the conservatives in the United States, but I do know quite a few and they tend to hold certain values in common: they feel that human life is sacred; they value law and order and observe the rule of law; they abhor criminal acts; they go to church and consider their church to be a holy place; they are committed to family and community.  The murder of Dr. Tiller in church, in the presence of his friends and family, was the act of a madman, not a “conservative.”

The leftist goons and loons who post articles at places like the Huffington Post and Daily Kos seem to have difficulty distinguishing madness from normal behavior.  I remind myself that this is the same bunch that refuses to believe that JFK was assassinated by a lone nutjob – - it had to be a conspiracy, right? A lone crazy person couldn’t kill Camelot, could he?

Unlike FOX News haters, I actually watch FOX News on a regular basis, and it so happens that I have heard some of O’Reilly’s criticisms of Tiller.  In no way could anything he said be taken as advocating, encouraging, condoning, aiding, or abetting the use of violence against any abortionist.  The accused killer, it turns out, had a history of mental illness and deranged violence long predating O’Reilly’s program on FOX.  But we never let the facts get in the way of a self-righteous slanderfest, do we, loonies?

I have printed below some excerpts from the post-Tiller slanderfest, for the benefit of those whose state of health forbids going to HuffPo and Kos and MSNBC.  What they have in common is obvious: they are vile, in every sense of the word “vile” ( morally despicable or abhorrent; of little worth or account; disgustingly or utterly bad; foul; mean; obnoxious; contemptible). And they are malevolent, in both senses of the word “malevolent” (having, showing, or arising from intense, often vicious, ill will, spite, or hatred; productive of harm or evil).

It came to me that these lunatics don’t give a damn about Tiller, the murder victim. They simply seize on this crime as yet another opportunity to vent their vile malevolence in a public forum, to accuse without evidence, to slander without substance, to bully their opponents into silence.

By doing this, I believe, the loons have given us an insight into their own twisted mental processes. Accusations like this are examples of what psychologists call projection: the attribution of one’s own ideas, feelings, or attitudes to other people; especially : the externalization of blame, guilt, or responsibility as a defense against anxiety.

In other words, they attribute to conservatives and O’Reilly their own inner feelings and attitudes.  This reveals that the loons really do fear those folks and consider their very words to be “terrorism;” and the truth, far from setting them free, causes the loons deep anxiety.

Interesting.  Informative. And more than a little unnerving.

Weekly Standard, The Campaign to Blame O’Reilly for Tiller’s Death

Newsbusters, Liberals Blame O’Reilly for Tiller Murder, Silent on Military Recruiter Shooting

Bill O’Reilly’s hit piece on Dr. Tiller is a training tape for Christian Fundamentalist Terrorists.” Huffington Post, Christian Fundamentalist Terrorism

“I felt just sick today when I saw the bulletin about the murder of Dr. George Tiller.Sicker still when I saw the “sympathy” letter issued by officials at Operation Rescue, the virulent anti-abortion organization that dogged this poor man for the past two decades. The statement said, “We pray for Mr. Tiller’s family.”They had better say a few prayers for their own souls. They had better pray for forgiveness for relentlessly working to make this man a target.” Huffinton Post, No Mercy

Huffinton Post, Domestic Terrorism Strikes in the Assassination of Dr. George Tiller

‘[Keith] Olbermann took time on his MSNBC show to discuss the “horrifying realization that a television figure can be a facilitator for domestic terrorism.” He explicitly deems Fox News complicit in the assassination of Tiller, focusing on many clips of O’Reilly referring to the doctor as “Tiller the Baby Killer,” saying the doctor “has blood on his hands,” and noting, “There’s a special place in hell for this guy.’ Keith Olbermann vs.Bill O’Reilly: The Feud Heats Up

Thanks to Jed Lewison at DailyKosTV for the following short compilation of clips from among 29 segments of O’Reilly’s show, in which he persisently demonized Tiller. “As you can see from these video clip samplings of O’Reilly’s holy war,” Lewison writes, “you don’t have to actually pull the trigger to help sponsor terrorism.” Source.

Most people — whenever anything horrible happens in the world — ask themselves the same existential question: To what extent was Bill O’Reilly responsible for this?Usually, the answer is just something boring like, “Probably just a tiny little bit, I guess.” But this time, the answer might actually be a little different…” Posted on Comedy Central (where it belongs).

O’Reilly, Tiller, blood, hands, etc…

“we doubt anything [O'Reilly] says will be enough to pacify the many who will almost certainly claim that O’Reilly is now the one with “blood on his hands.” Bill O’Reilly’s Holy War Against George Tiller

“Bill O’Reilly will most certainly decry the death of Kansas doctor George Tiller . . . . But there’s no other person who bears as much responsibility for the characterization of Tiller as a savage on the loose, killing babies willy-nilly thanks to the collusion of would-be sophisticated cultural elites, a bought-and-paid-for governor and scofflaw secular journalists.” Posted on Huffington Post.

Good post. Reason magazine has a good article on this as well.

As usual, the quickly follow the lefty illogic to its logical conclusion: We must outlaw all vivid speech, confining ourselves to only boring, non-inflammatory words when discussing subjects liberals don’t approve of.
