Finding information on the global warming scam that is both interesting and accessible.
International Conference on Climate Change
This last week marked the third holding of the annual International Conference on Climate Change, where climate realists from around the globe meet to gnash their teeth over the climate “debate,” which really isn’t a debate any more since the slack-jawed media have shacked up with the change movement.
Media coverage of the event, needless to say, was essentially non-existent, but you can start your reading at PilotOnline.com with the article Global warming? Not so fast, skeptics say at meeting. The meeting was also covered, to a greater or lesser degree, by the following:
SmallGovTimes.com, Weather malarkey – full of hot air: Begins with a notice of the conference and of the paper it released and then goes on to describe some of the major problems with the science behind global warming.
The Washington Times, CITIZEN JOURNALISM: ‘Realists’ challenge claim of consensus on warming: A brief look at the conference and mention of the 800 page report released to counter the IPCC.
American Thinker, ICCC Three Brings Climate Reality To Washington DC: Using the conference as a launching pad, American Thinker then offers a large and well-written synopsis of much of the climate and sociological debate, including the push for political action coming from the alarmists camp.
Current Temperature Trends
Meanwhile, May satellite readings showed a significant decline, yet again, ( h/t to Roy Spencer) in atmospheric temperatures, showing only an anomaly of plus .043 deg. C. If you are having a difficult time picturing how plus .043 is a downward trend, here’s a chart I made for you with May temperatures from this century:

This is from a single month and only from 2001 on, but this chart actually mirrors the overall trend of the 21st century. Satellite data is only available since 1979, without herculean modeling efforts, and only shows a minimal overall increase. In fact, about one more year of the current trend, and I firmly believe that, by the most accurate methods we have available to us today, the overall trend since 1979 will be slightly downward. More on that to come later.
Meanwhile, the climate fantasyland is predicting the hottest decade on record, which is neatly sliced apart at IceCap with Romm’s Fairy Tales.
From the Blogroll
Slim pickings from the blogroll on AGW last week, but Cheat Seeking Missiles did a good write-up on The Latest Sea Level Hysteria.
From A Conservative Kid, we get two related posts, How will Cap And Trade affect all of us and what will it cost? and What does “Green” have to do with the automakers?
AND THE GRAND CHAMPION WINNER!
From Stop the ACLU, we learn of a liberal policy blog that calls for jailing or executing global warming deniers: A “Progressive” forgets that his hate must be camouflaged
Bad Behavior has blocked 1267 access attempts in the last 7 days.
The only thing that drives me nuts about the whole climate “debate” is this “Going green” thing.
Green is something most of us were already doing. The Liberal media and the Demoncrats needed a new buzz phrase AND being that it’s near impossible for Democrats to come up with a fresh idea, they took something that was already being done and relabled it “Green”

I like at the end of page 2 of the WP article the one scientist was quoted as saying that the report was “much more intellectually honest.”
Looks like beach front property is staying right where it is.

You know, I was actually thinking of writing a story on that. Everywhere you look, America is turning greener and greener. Car companies, even those not owned by the government, are producing vastly more efficient cars. People are buying the flourescent light bulbs like hotcakes. Windmills and solar power are becomming more popoular. Actually, we seem to be entering the beginning of the solar age.
So why must we push for crazy things like cat and trade?
@NEPAConservative –
There’s nothing greener than CO2! More CO2 = a verdant world, undeniably. It’s an essential nutrient for plants. Less frost (like we had in Massachusetts in June) means more plants! CO2 is the greenest thing going!
@Jim DeCamp –
Exactly. The continuous parade of nonsense is just staggering.
for the millionth time….the global climate has been getting warmer, with a few minor reverses, since the end of the last ice age, about 12,000 years ago, when the sea level was about 200 feet lower. People who deny global warming are so blinded by their political philosophy that they cannot acknowledge scientific fact. the big question in the climate debate is not whether global warming is occurring, it’s whether emissions of greenhouse gasses is exacerbating the trend. Zannucci’s ignorance is astounding.
Dear Larry Wilson, why do you choose to ignore science? 1/2 say yes the other ½ says BS. So are you choosing to believe? Is what you believe based on your IGNORANT political affiliation?
@Larry Wilson –
“Zannucci’s ignorance is astounding.”
We all have to be good at something. Perhaps this is my special gift.
