The White House tonight is providing the below clarification on what the president’s health-care proposals would mean when it comes to the issue of illegal immigrants.
…the administration concedes that hospitals would be compensated with public funds for the care of undocumented immigrants.
Looks like Obama didn’t have his facts straight on Illegal Immigrants and health care. Of course, that didn’t stop him from throwing daggers at the folks he claims to want to work with. So, does this latest concession mean that Joe Wilson was right? Does this mean that Barack Obama will now apologize to Joe Wilson?
Now the question remains: did the president lie?
Did he not understand the bill?
Are we to believe the rest of his “Setting the record straight” statements on health care?
Apparently we have another case of the Democrats rewriting history. Ideologues like Olberman and Rachel Madcow are out there talking about how disgraceful Joe Wilson was, but what did they think when Bush was booed by MANY Democrats in the chamber. Oh wait, what was that? You don’t remember that?

Did you read the link you posted?
“Undocumented immigrants would not be able to buy private insurance on the exchange. Those who are lawfully present in this country would be able to participate.”
And that’s exactly what the President said. He was addressing the public option for insurance reform.
“There would be no change in the law that requires emergency rooms to treat people who need emergency care, including undocumented immigrants. There is already a federal grant program that compensates states for emergency room costs associated with treatment of undocumented immigrants, a provision sponsored by a Republican lawmaker.”
That’s the existing law regarding hospital care, which has nothing to do with insurance reform, which is what the Public Option is all about.
No, the President wasn’t lying at all.
And I don’t hear any booing in the video clip you posted. Grumbling, yes, but certainly no one yelling “Liar” at the top of their voice.
This is the problem I have with liberals, anytime a liberal does something it could never be as bad to the degree a Republican can do it. You heard grumbling but no booing and it wasn’t as bad as… Please are we talking about respecting the office of the president or not?
Having said that they both LIE. There’s nothing in this bill to stop it or verify and there is nothing currently to stop it as well.
