Here’s another case of you can trust us but you can’t trust them.  I’m talking about how big government thinks there is something fishy about the workplace becoming a safer place.  It comes as no surprise that liberals think big business (the enemy) has something to hide.  If we can only investigate the hypocrites that want the investigation.

Here’s a thought: with 10.2% unemployment and a serious decline in manufacturing jobs over the past 20 years does it really come as a big surprise that work place incidents are on the decline?  Let’s see… less people are working, less places to work…YUP, big business has something to hide.  Heck, how can you NOT come to that conclusion….

Audits are necessary as “employers may not record injuries or illnesses because they are afraid of increasing their workers’ compensation costs or jeopardizing their chances of winning contract bids for new work,” the GAO said in a report set for release today.

The GAO, the investigative agency of Congress, conducted its year-long investigation of OSHA’s record-keeping after reports last year of poor working conditions in the poultry industry, where thousands of workers are hurt each year as they cut and package meat. Democrats in Congress requested the investigation.

Labor unions and Democrats are pushing the Obama administration to step up enforcement of OSHA regulations and increase inspections and penalties. They have said that under the Bush administration OSHA favored companies rather than workers by focusing on voluntary compliance.
